Programs at the New Bern-Craven County Library in June include lectures, discussion groups, a seminar on making jewelry and a program on fossils.
Activities get under way Thursday with the June Artist of the Month reception at 7 p.m., featuring Stacey Swann and her pastel works. The public is invited.

“Lunch ‘n Learn” returns June 13 with “The Village.” Local writer Flora Ann Scearce provides this insight as she unveils this colorful journey of her mother:

The book will be available for sale and autographing, beginning at noon in the Hayden H. Jones Auditorium.
Saturday Afternoon at the Movies returns June 15 with the screening of “Mrs. Miniver,” a groundbreaking film starring Greer Garson and Walter Pigeon. It won Academy Awards. The 2:15 p.m.Give your logo high visibility on Promotional Luggage Tags! showing is free. Popcorn and lemonade will be served.
“A Novel Idea” Book Discussion Club is June 17 with the novel “Remains of the Day” by Kazuo Ishiguro. It is a profoundly compelling portrait of the perfect English butler and his fading, insular world postwar England. The 1 p.m. event is free and the book is available at the library.
“Groundbreaking Bingo ‘Round the Library” comes June 18, a chance at 1 p.m. to play and win prizes.
Amateur paleontologist George Oliver of the Aurora Fossil Museum leads “Fossil Finds” on June 28.
