  • who makes custom wedding invitations

Women gravitated to Pinterest's visual appeal early on; now the social network is making a concentrated effort to reach out to small businesses to start using the service as it seeks to expand its audience base.

Pinterest has yet to accept advertising - it's expected to start experimenting with monetization next year - but it's open for business for folks looking to market to consumers. As it automatically gathers data from millions of rtls and radio frequency identification,

Pinterest, which reached 46 million visitors in July, according to measurement site ComScore, is a website and app that lets users "pin" photos and Web links of things they're interested in. You can browse categories to see what folks think of, say, wedding dresses, sunflowers and chicken pot pie, and businesses can post photos and links to try and grow their sales.

Pinterest recently introduced a new tool called "Rich Pins," which lets retailers provide extra information about what's being pinned. For instance, if online retailer Etsy displays an image, Pinterest also includes the price, size and color,Explore the benefits of having a fully managed dedicated server as your platform. says Evan Sharp, desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone. a Pinterest co-founder. "That helps us make it easier to discover."

Some businesses have had a hard time understanding Pinterest, he admits. "Pinterest takes a moment to 'get it.' If you don't take that moment, there's a little bit of a learning curve."

Courtney Jentzen, who makes custom wedding invitations and illustrations, regularly "pins" her work on Pinterest, and gets lots of feedback - and inquiries.

"For me to post a tweet would be showcasing a thought, but since I'm visually based, Pinterest is such a bigger deal," she says. "A pin can create a ripple effect. I post it, it shows up on someone else's page, and it goes from there. You can reach so many more people than you'd find on a blog, or even on Twitter or Facebook."

Making Pinterest cooler than any other social network - at least for Jentzen - is the clickthrough. Click the photo once, see the picture, click it again, and it takes you straight to the company website. "No one else does that," she says.

Patty Triplett West, who runs the Good Karmal company in Bozeman, Mont., says she pins on Pinterest because "I have to be there. People go on Facebook to connect, but with Pinterest they are there to be inspired." As a company, she offers her caramels as custom gifts for weddings and anniversaries,Find the trendiest ladies shoes wholesale including stylish wholesale sandals. and each one is wrapped with an inspirational quote. "Folks often pin them when they're planning."

Tammy Thompson, from Las Vegas, likes to go on Pinterest to "see what my friends like to do, places to go and things to create for your home," she says. "It's really fun."

Sharp describes Pinterest as a place "to help people discover what they love, and inspire them to do those things in their real life."

Pinterest launched in 2010, and struggled for a year until women began to discover it and began spreading the word. Some $338 million has been raised by the firm from a variety of venture firms including Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners. Forbes says Pinterest is valued at $2.5 billion.

Challenges for the company include establishing a business model, making Pinterest relevant outside the United States,Find the perfect leather or synthetic cell phone cellphone cases. and broadening the appeal here.

Potentially, Pinterest could be "tremendous. If it all works, it could be a fabulously valuable business that could be worth many billions of dollars."

  • who as a child showed greater affinity for animals

Kenny Irwin Jr. is not one of those brooding, creatively blocked artists, as one glance at his father’s backyard confirms. Ken Irwin Sr. once owned a pristine two-acre spread in a prized part of town. Then he made the generous or foolish decision, depending on your viewpoint, to hand over the property to his son as a place to build and display the astonishing over-scaled sculptures that Kenny Jr. makes by fusing found materials with tons of glue.

Now, Santa’s Battle Wagon and a team of 12 robot reindeer occupy a patch of lawn near the pool, while a 50-foot-tall, 54-ton robot made partly of junked electronics diverts attention from the tasteful desert landscaping.

Georgia Eisner, his older sister, recalled how, expensive version of Replacement parts for iphone 5 screen Supply Store. years before he took over the backyard, he would appropriate her possessions as material for his art while she was away at boarding school. “It was clear my typewriter ended up in one of his structures,” she said. “My shell collection disappeared. He glued it to the wall.”

Kenny Jr.’s ideas come in a geyserlike rush, he explained, inspired by vivid dreams of aliens and distant planets. His main challenge is keeping up with them. “The amount of energy that goes through me is absolutely, utterly relentless,” he said. “Think of it as the floodgates are unleashed and the flood doesn’t ever stop. It’s been that way my whole life.”

For several years, his creative energy has been channeled into Robo Lights, the ever-expanding holiday display he began in 1986, at age 12.Explore the benefits of having a fully managed dedicated server as your platform. Last year, 20,000 people visited the sprawling installation, which features Santa’s Pink Robot Store and a manger scene with baby Jesus wearing a Sumo-style topknot and wise men bearing gifts of toy microwaves.

“Kenny is one of a handful of people who continue to fascinate me,” Ms. Hoffberger said. “There’s a lot of sci-fi work out there, and it tends to look alike. His work looks like no one else’s.”

LIKE A ONE-MAN RECYCLING CENTER, Kenny Jr. collects old phones, cassette tapes, wood, the innards of slot machines, garbage can lids, pool filters, a neighbor’s wrecked glider, an air compressor from a commercial building — anything he can get his hands on, basically — and using multiple cans of Touch ’n Foam sealant, gives form to his visions.

His sculptures have a Seurat-like quality: a pink Clydesdale looks monumental from a distance; up close, its hooves are revealed as boxy computer monitors, its noble head a printer and fax machine glued together, its mane a tangle of power cords.

Still, the exposure didn’t translate to wider recognition for his art. Kenny Jr. isn’t represented by a gallery, but sells his art out of the house. And beyond the Visionary Art Museum, his work is not championed by museums,Find the trendiest ladies shoes wholesale including stylish wholesale sandals. including the Palm Springs Art Museum. He works each day in relative obscurity, treating his father’s palm-shaded yard as his Roden Crater, his Chinati Ranch.

For Kenny Jr.,Find the perfect leather or synthetic cell phone cellphone cases. who as a child showed greater affinity for animals than for humans, art is an attempt to connect. “The major reason I create is to share with people,” he said.desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone. “I always saw what enjoyment people got out of my art. It made me happy because it makes them happy.”

In addition to his astonishing sculptures, Kenny Jr. makes ballpoint-pen drawings that blend futuristic and Islamic imagery, and strangely beautiful ceramics in which materials like pigeon feathers or cicada skins are encased in resin skulls. As with the sculptures in the yard, the smaller works have started to fill the large house he shares with his father, and Kenny Jr.’s uncontrollable creative output has put a strain on his family.

Either it was the greatest miracle or the greatest mistake of my life,” Ken Sr. said, and laughed. He was sitting in the air-conditioned, vaulted-ceiling living room of the house he designed and built, which has a conversation pit and electric-blue rug that date it to the era when Burt and Dinah roamed Palm Canyon Drive. Viewed through sliding-glass doors, Kenny Jr.’s sculptures loomed impressively on the lawn, as if eyeing the house and its residents for a takeover.

As Kenny Jr. grew older, and his installations consumed more and more of the property, “I had to make some decisions,” Ken Sr. said. What he decided was to become his son’s Lorenzo de’ Medici, supporting Kenny Jr. financially and allowing him to turn prime Southern California real estate into “a canvas.”

  • The turbines have a little road

The first wind turbine in Willacy County went up on March 30, 2012, and since then the landscape has changed dramatically.

The county’s residents saw an immediate economic benefit leading up to that day from the flood of construction workers assembling the towering turbines on farm and ranch land.

Now, more than a year after the wind farms went online, farmers, company representatives, environmentalists and county officials weigh in on how the turbines have affected the area.Protect and connect your Samsung smartphone with samsung cases. Which way the wind blows for opinions on the turbines depends on who you ask.

In many cases, company representatives say, the turbines are exceeding expectations and a farmer who leases property to a wind farm says the arrangement has been beneficial. Environmentalists say the turbines are a threat to migratory birds and a businesswoman says they have hurt her crop-dusting business.Find the perfect leather or synthetic cell phone cellphone cases.

Russell Klostermann, who farms in Willacy County, says he is reaping benefits from the turbines.

“It’s easier to farm wind than anything else,” Klostermann said of the three turbines on his 160-acre grain sorghum field. “They’re connected by an underground line… and don’t take up much area at all.”

Klostermann Farms worked with E.ON Climate and Renewables, which owns the turbines on Klostermann’s property.

E.ON has built 112 turbines that make up the 203-megawatt Magic Valley project, E.ON spokesman Matt Tulis said. The name “Magic Valley” has to do with the first settlers that arrived in the Rio Grande Valley, he said. The area was called “magic” because of the fertile land. “That’s where we got the name from,” said Tulis.

The E.ON turbines produce 1.8 megawatts of energy each per hour on full speed, which is about 20 to 30 miles per hour, Tulis said. Some turbines appear idle due to regularly scheduled routine maintenance.

“The turbines are monitored 24 hours a day,” said Tulis. “We’re able to see the performance of each turbine and are in constant communication.”

“They don’t look like they’re moving that fast, but there’s definitely a certain speed we want to maintain,” Tulis said.

The turbines have a little road that goes up to them and use a little piece of land, he said. “We’re harvesting right around them,” he said.

“It’s beneficial to the county,” Klostermann said. The company has improved some roads and the 24-hour monitoring adds to security out in the country, he said.

South of the Magic Valley project, Duke Energy has built 171 turbines in its Los Vientos I and Los Vientos II projects,Find the trendiest ladies shoes wholesale including stylish wholesale sandals. said spokesman Milton Howard.

“They’re all in operating condition,” said John Polomny, the area plant manager. Some are shut down for maintenance though, he said. Duke is also installing a new engineering design with their turbines. “We’re retro-fitting them,” Polomny said.desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone.

“At full production, in the best conditions we produce 400 megawatts, which could power approximately 280,000 homes,” Polomny said.

Many of the turbines are outperforming, exceeding expectations, he said. On average, a turbine will have about 20 rotations per minute. “The blade tip can go about 170 miles per hour,” Polomny said.

  • Lisowski made her first wedding dress

Finding the perfect wedding dress is time-consuming, can be quite expensive, and require multiple fittings, but for area residents from the 1940s to the 1980s, there was another option. Young brides could have their wedding dresses custom designed by Eleanor Andre Lisowski.

What started off as a hobby for Eleanor soon snowballed into a regular job, with wedding dresses called for nearly every week. These dresses were often designed without patterns, based on pictures from bridal magazines. They usually took only one fitting, and were relatively inexpensive. In addition to the dresses, Lisowski made veils and bridesmaids' gowns as well.

Over 30 of Lisowski’s wedding dresses will be on display at the Arcadia Historical Society on Sunday, August 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be a style show by models wearing some of Lisowski's creations.

Phyllis Wolfe, who purchased a dress from Lisowski in 1949, has been planning the event since March. Wolfe said she was not only interested in the beautiful gowns, but the history and stories behind them as well. Ads were placed in a few papers to garner initial interest in the project, and Wolfe made many phone calls. The phone calls were followed up by a questionnaire that was sent out to dress owners, asking for details of the wedding in which the dress was worn,Find the perfect leather or synthetic cell phone cellphone cases. as weProtect and connect your Samsung smartphone with samsung cases.ll as the cost and size of each gown.

The dresses that will be on display or modeled will be from the late 1940s to the mid 1980s. The original cost of the dresses ranged in price from $30 to $300. Many of the veils and headpieces were also made by Lisowski. Many of the dresses will be modeled by grandchildren of the original brides, as the dresses were custom fitted, making it more difficult to find older models who fit into the dresses.desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone.

Lisowski’s clients had many positive things to say about their experiences with their dressmaker. Wolfe spoke of how effortless the whole process was, noting that there were only two meetings throughout the process, the initial one to gather measurements and go over the design, and the final fitting once the gown was finished. Many enjoyed how personal the experience was, and several people have mentioned how happy Lisowski always was. Wolfe noted that one could tell that Lisowski truly enjoyed sewing: “She was always happy; she liked what she was doing.”

Eleanor Andre Lisowski, originally of North Creek, began sewing at a young age. As she got older, she sewed all her own clothes, and then after marrying, she made clothes for her son and daughter, including such things as winter coats. Rita Harvey, Lisowski’s daughter, said that she continued to make clothes for all of the family members each December, regardless of how busy she became with her paying customers.

In the mid 1940s, Lisowski made her first wedding dress for a girl in North Creek by the name of Woychik. In 1947, she made her second dress, and soon she had several clients requesting wedding dresses. Lisowski was often working on at least one dress a week. Although she would also do alterations, her true love was sewing bridal gowns.

Lisowski bought most of her supplies in Arcadia, but occasionally it would be necessary to buy fabrics in Winona or La Crosse. She always looked for sales, to reduce the cost of the dresses. As the business took off, expensive version of Replacement parts for iphone 5 screen Supply Store. Lisowski would sew all day, every day, except for Saturdays and Sundays. In the evenings, she would work on the veils and headdresses so she could sit in the living room with the family while she worked.

  • which normally are intermittent sources

Zany, quirky, enthusiastic. There are many ways to describe the personal style of mechanical engineering professor Alexander Slocum. And he embraces them all. As a teacher and researcher, he uses what he calls his pinball-like focus and his passion for mechanical engineering to inspire students and tackle some of the biggest challenges in energy, medicine, and precision engineering.

It’s his research in renewable energy, though, that’s recently gotten the most attention outside MIT. This spring, -Slocum coauthored a paper in Proceedings of the IEEE describing a utility-scale energy storage system based on large underwater concrete spheres and floating wind turbines. When Barack Obama visited MIT in 2009 to deliver a speech on energy, -Slocum, in one of his trademark Hawaiian shirts, demonstrated the concept to the president using a toy wind turbine and large jars filled with sand and water. Since then, expensive version of Replacement parts for iphone 5 screen Supply Store. the work has advanced to the point where -Slocum and colleagues have had discussions with a large engineering and construction firm on how it might be possible to manufacture the massive structures. Slocum estimates it would take five to 10 years to commercialize the idea, which he calls the Ocean Renewable Energy System.

Floating wind turbines would be moored with cables to a network of 20,000-ton spheres 25 to 30 meters in diameter, or about the size of the dome at MIT. To store excess energy not sent to the grid, the turbines would operate pumps to evacuate water from the spheres. When power was needed, water would flow into the spheres, causing the pumps to run in reverse and act as generators.

Developing inexpensive ways to store large amounts of energy on the electricity grid would allow wind farms and solar installations, which normally are intermittent sources, to deliver power on demand as fossil-fuel and nuclear plants do now. Slocum’s design is a twist on conventional pumped hydropower, currently the most cost-effective and widespread storage method. Pumped hydropower technology sends water uphill to a reservoir and releases it to generate power during peak times. Instead of relying on gravity by storing the water in a mountaintop lake, -Slocum’s concept harnesses the water pressure at hundreds of meters of ocean depth to power the electricity generator. The concrete spheres that hold the water also serve to anchor the turbines.

If it works, the impact could be dramatic. The wind over deep waters represents a massive yet largely untapped resource. Slocum’s paper estimates that 1,000 turbines, placed out of sight about 30 to 50 kilometers offshore with anchoring spheres 600 meters below the surface, could supply as much power as a nuclear plant. Today’s pumped hydropower systems typically deliver hundreds of megawatts of power for six to 10 hours. Though deploying turbines in deep water would be more expensive than placing them near shore,Find the perfect leather or synthetic cell phone cellphone cases. Slocum and his colleagues estimate that the Ocean Renewable Energy System could be price-competitive with pumped hydro—and a large-scale deployment with 1,000 turbines could store up to five gigawatts of power for as long as 12 hours. The researchers have already built a prototype system with a 30-foot-high tower and off-the-shelf pumps and other components.

The project showcases Slocum’s affinity for "symbiotic design," or solving multiple problems at once. In addition to providing energy storage and acting as anchors, the spheres would be made of concrete that can contain significant amounts of fly ash, a waste product of coal power plants. The system could also benefit local ecosystems by encouraging growth of bottom--dwelling life.Protect and connect your Samsung smartphone with samsung cases. And in a speech to top Japanese officials, Slocum argued that a deep-sea wind farm near the shuttered Fukushima nuclear power plant could provide new jobs for local fishermen, who can no longer fish there because of radiation.desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone. They could help install the systems, perform maintenance, and monitor the impact on the ecosystem.

  • The couple have received plenty of scorn

Following the dramatic departure of Brooks Forrester in the season's penultimate episode, Hartsock was left heartbroken and uncertain of her future. Her worry was brought to a dramatic close when Siegfried proposed in the finale. Now, three months have passed since filming wrapped, which has allowed Hartsock and Siegfried to spend some off-camera time cementing their relationship.

"We were kept very secluded [after filming ended]," says Chris, "we saw each other every ten days. It was hard".

Siegfried is a local Seattleite who moved to Ballard after playing minor league baseball until 2011. A graduate of the University of Portland, Siegfried is a mortgage broker originally from McMinneville, Oregon. The two now reside in Seattle.

"I was expecting rain all the time. [Chris] is trying to win me over with Seattle. He always says ‘It never rains. It’s always sunny!’" Hartsock explained.

"I came from Santa Monica and I love the beach, so it’s nice to still have water and nature.offers reliable and affordable windows dedicated server packages."

Of course, the Emerald City offers plenty of nature for the two to explore.

"We like to get out and hike. Rain or shine we'll do that kind of stuff," says Siegfried.

"We went to Anthony's. That was fun," Siegfried affirms.

What is next for the couple? Siegfried plans to release a poetry collection.Protect and connect your Samsung smartphone with samsung cases.

"It's going to be called 'Diamonds and Hearts.' It's a poetic memoir. It's mostly poetry that I've written over the last four years, and there's some poetry of [Hartsock's]."

Hartsock, meanwhile, plans to rekindle her bridal business in Seattle.

"I'm looking to build my bridal collection and design wedding dresses," she says, adding that she's actively looking for new clients.

Now that the finale has aired, the two can also finally get serious about their own wedding. The couple says they're looking to wed in the summer of next year. But where?

"We’ve been leaning towards Northwest, but it’s still to be determined," Siegfried noted.

When asked whether the wedding would be televised, Hartsock said she wants it to be intimate, but that "if that works with being on TV, we’d like to share it with people."

The couple have received plenty of scorn for meeting on reality TV, but Hartsock says that outside opinions really don't matter to her.

"We know we’re supposed to be together," Desiree affirmed.

  • Locking in the supply of more advanced components

Rocked by internal feuding and executive exits, offers reliable and affordable windows dedicated server packages. and positioned at the high-end of a smartphone market that is close to saturation, HTC has seen its market share slump to below 5 percent from around a quarter five years ago; its stock price is at 8-year lows, and it has warned it could make a first operating loss this quarter.

Reuters interviewed a dozen former and current HTC executives who said Chou's abrasive management style and weak strategic vision play their part in the company's decline, which has coincided with the success of Apple Inc's iPhone and Samsung Electronics' Galaxy phones.Protect and connect your Samsung smartphone with samsung cases.

Chou has said publicly he has no intention to stand down, and executives - none of whom wanted to be named because of the sensitive nature of the issue - said HTC has no clear internal successor. "Part of the weakness is there is no obvious successor, and that's not been good for morale," one said.

Chou declined to be interviewed for this article, but in response to Reuters queries, the company said: "HTC's board and broad employee base remain committed to Peter Chou's leadership. The (flagship) HTC One product family - which has been met with accolades by media and consumers alike - was a result of Peter's vision and leadership,Fun sell a huge range of Cases for iPad 4, and speaks for itself."

Born in Myanmar but educated as an electrical engineer in Taiwan, Chou joined HTC from Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) in 1997. Colleagues describe him as a perfectionist with an obsessive eye for materials and hardware design. Staff would deliver trays of prototype phones for him to inspect and pore over, expensive version of Replacement parts for iphone 5 screen Supply Store. spinning them to check for balance and running his fingers across the bevelled edges and joints. Phones would pile up on his desk, sometimes spilling onto the floor.

That attention to detail and Chou's willingness to make decisions on the fly helped build a culture within HTC of moving quickly to address market demands.

At an offsite meeting two years ago, for example, the HTC team realized it needed another device for its portfolio. Chou quickly drew some sketches on a whiteboard, recalled one of those present, and soon had the outlines of a device, its price point, and a launch date - just three months away. Most manufacturers would need up to 18 months for a similar project, yet the Sensation XL appeared on schedule, and to rave reviews.desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone.

"Having the ability to just tear up a plan and say, OK, this is the new thing and we're going to get it done fast. That's Peter," said another former senior foreign executive.

This shoot-from-the-hip approach served HTC well when the market was growing fast. Shortening the time to market meant HTC could alter plans at the last minute to take advantage of new or cheaper parts. But, as the market has matured, making it harder for handset makers to differentiate their products, the approach has left HTC vulnerable. Locking in the supply of more advanced components and materials to make products stand out requires more foresight and planning than HTC currently allows, former executives say.

"The weak point is they don't really have a long term strategy," said one. "It used to be a strength, and now is becoming a weak point as they don't have a clear direction going forward."

HTC's second-quarter net profit was well below forecasts even after resolving component shortages that hit its HTC One phone, and the company has said current quarter revenue could fall by as much as 30 percent from the previous quarter. HTC shares trade at around a tenth of their 2011 peak.

  • Several industry groups are promoting

In recent weeks, two cert petitions were filed seeking review of whether the Fourth Amendment covers police searches of cellphone records upon arrest.
From mobile phone and GPS tracking to license plate reading and domestic surveillance drones -- not to mention recent revelations of widespread abuse of surveillance capabilities by the National Security Agency -- these cases and many others highlight major questions that remain unanswered regarding how privacy rights of Americans can co-exist with the use of rapidly evolving technologies.
State and federal law enforcement agencies have wasted no time seizing on gaps and omissions in established legal precedent to justify vast, routine surveillance of the American public which tests Fourth Amendment rights.
On July 30, a petition was filed in Riley v. California challenging a previous ruling in a California appellate court that affirmed the petitioner’s convictions, which stemmed in part from a questionable search of his smartphone in 2009 following a traffic stop for expired license plates. And late last week, the US Department of Justice filed a petition in United States v. Wurie asking for review of a First Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that police needed a warrant to access a suspect’s phone records. Regarding Wurie, the government contends a cell phone is no different from any other item on a suspect at the time of arrest. The search pertaining to Wurie occurred in 2007.
On the surface, the two cases have much in common. But in Riley, the phone in question is a smartphone - a Samsung Instinct M800. In Wurie, the cellphone was a Verizon LG flip-phone incapable of maintaining the breadth of information - including internet searches,Series cases for iphone 5 protects against drops and dust. email, photos and other media - that a smartphone can store.
As of May, Pew Research Center found that 91 percent of American own cellphones, and 61 percent of those cellphones are smartphones.
GPS technology has received more scrutiny from courts than cellphones have in recent years. Last week, the Justice Department appeared before a federal court defending its right to shield legal memos that provide guidance to federal prosecutors and investigators for how to use GPS devices and other surveillance technologies from the public. In a sense, the memos were released upon a Freedom of Information Act request by the American Civil LIberties Union (ACLU), though their contents were heavily redacted.offers reliable and affordable windows dedicated server packages.
The memos (read here and here) were legal interpretations of a January 2012 Supreme Court ruling in United States v. Jones in which the court ruled the use of GPS technology to track a car’s movements constitutes a “search” within the parameters of the Fourth Amendment. Upon release of the indecipherable legal memos, the ACLU filed a lawsuit seeking the full, uncensored guidelines.

GM had previously said the technology could be used in vehicles by 2012. The Detroit automaker also said the Chevrolet Volt range-extended plug-in hybrid would be one of the first vehicles to get the technology, though a spokeswoman on Monday declined to discuss specific vehicle plans.
To charge a smartphone in today’s vehicles, a consumer must use a cord to draw energy from either a USB port or by a phone charger. But for those future vehicles equipped with a Powermat electromagnetic charging mat, a consumer needs only to place their cellphone on the surface to charge.
Phones — and other electronic devices — must be capable of wireless recharging. Consumer can also buy cellphone cases that allow for wireless recharging.

Consulting and data firm IHS Inc. projects that global shipments of wireless charging devices will rise to almost 100 million by 2015 compared to 5 million units last year.
Wireless smartphone charging is the latest in a series of in-car upgrades that automakers have added or plan to add to better connect consumers with devices generally used outside vehicles. Other examples include touchscreens and voice-activated systems that allow drivers to use their cellphones without taking their hands off the steering wheel.
Several industry groups are promoting different standards for wireless charging, according to Bloomberg News research: Power Matters Alliance, which includes Powermat, BlackBerry and AT&T Inc.; Wireless Power Consortium, with Nokia Oyj, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Verizon Wireless; and Alliance for Wireless Power, whose supporters include HTC Corp., Intel Corp. and Qualcomm Inc. Some companies joined multiple associations.

  • who graduated from CCHS in June

The Concord school district is defending itself against allegations that it failed to act when a high school student complained of being bullied.
On Tuesday, the district released a chronology of events involving the student in question and a summary of responses the school made to each of those events.
Isabella "Belle" Hankey, a former Concord-Carlisle High School student, is suing the school district, the towns of Concord and Carlisle and three school officials for $2 million, claiming she was bullied and harassed over a period of approximately two years while administrators allegedly did nothing about it.
In the suit Hankey, 18, of Carlisle,Select from a variety of cases for ipad mini or create your own! who graduated from CCHS in June, alleges that in addition to having slurs carved into her car on numerous occasions and feces smeared on her vehicle, she received death threats.
Hankey said in the suit that as a direct result of the bullying, she has suffered and continues to suffer severe stress and anxiety, which has manifested itself in significant physical illness.
School officials made an uncharacteristic move Tuesday when they contacted the press asking to meet to talk about the lawsuit. In the past, officials have shied away from discussing matters involving individual students or staff members.
Superintendent of Schools Diana Rigby met with the Journal, along with CCHS Principal Peter Badalament, district spokesman Tom Lucey and Leonard Kesten,Our linux dedicated serverplans feature lightning-fast processors, of Brody Hardoon Perkins & Kesten, the school district’s legal counsel for this case.
Last week, Rigby issued a statement regarding the suit and assured the community that student safety remains the highest priority in Concord schools. On Tuesday, Rigby reiterated her comments adding that Hankey’s safety was CCHS’ primary concern.Series cases for iphone 5 protects against drops and dust.

In the statement issued Tuesday, the district said it took “significant steps to ensure the student’s safety, which included providing one-on-one personal security,Extend the power on your iphone 5 back cover juice pack. installing security cameras in the student parking lot and adjacent restrooms and offering a monitored parking space.
“The student and her family were consulted continuously and they were provided 24-hour access to school administration and police supervisors,” the statement said. “All parties involved devoted a tremendous amount of effort and resources to protect the student and to hold the perpetrator or perpetrators accountable.”

  • Engineers are receptive to open source

"For people who for whatever reason really need to access the latest technology, most purchasing decisions today are made by very capable engineers," Partridge told LinuxInsider. 'They have little patience for the need to pay for an evaluation or a series of sales reps at meetings and so forth. They want to get to the good stuff right away.

"So for innovative companies in the database space now, I do not think they have much of a choice" but to use open source,Select from a variety of cases for ipad mini or create your own!Extend the power on your iphone 5 back cover juice pack. he added.

Partridge sees open source products as a key solution for businesses that need to work with database technology. That need becomes even more critical when the database involves Big Data and relies on cloud storage. For example, open source pioneer Mozilla has been using TokuDB to manage its MySQL-driven Datazilla Data cluster, desirable Cases for HTC One create an air of sophistication with an extra helping of protection for your flagship smartphone. an open-source system for managing and visualizing performance data.

Tokutek is an open source player in high-performance and agile database storage engine technology. The company was founded by a group of mathematics researchers seven years ago who had a breakthrough in an obscure piece of computer science called indexing technology, according to Partridge. The breakthrough enables databases to make data quickly retrievable. They found a 200x speed increase in database operations that nobody had been able to improve since the 1970s.

To understand the significance of that feat, think of a phone book. Of course, phone books are indexed by last name -- otherwise, you might have to go through the entire phone book just to find the one number you needed. Looking by last names, however, makes the searching task very easy and fast.

Likewise, applications that need to find data very quickly depend on indexing to do it.

In this interview, LinuxInsider talks with Partridge about the inherent problems associated with expanding database operations to fit ever-increasing user demands and aging database technology.

Different customer segments have a different appetite for new technology. Some are not going to need the latest and greatest technology. They will be content with using traditional methods for many years to come. I think if you want to interact with your customers quickly and constructively and get the word out there quickly that your stuff is good and it works, the only way to do it is to make it easily accessible to the decision makers who are engineers.

Engineers are receptive to open source so they can download it and try it out. They can run their own evals and call the developer if they have a problem or question. By and large, they are pretty self-sufficient and very thorough. They put software through very rigorous testing. They look at all the different open source offerings. I think that open source is a good fit for the database space today. This is how the new technology is getting evaluated by the decision makers in an organizaOur linux dedicated server plans feature lightning-fast processors, tion.
