  • who buy infield tickets for a large stadium

All tickets to a debut China concert by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash sold out in three days last month. Scalpers doubled ticket prices to 3,Stock your shoe store with our ladies shoes wholesale,000 yuan ($488.50).
People were still talking about the concert of Taiwan folk musician Kimbo (De-Fu) Hu at Shanghai Oriental Art Center weeks after his performance, wondering how unexpectedly successful and popular the 63-year-old alternative musician turned out to be.
"People in Shanghai are ready for some special music experiences that feel exclusive and tailor-made especially for them," Wu Liangyu, from Shining On Culture Co Ltd, a major show promoter in Shanghai, told China Daily.
Slash's sell-out gig took place at the Mixing Room and Muse, an 800-seat small hall at the Mercedes-Benz Arena complex. Shanghai Oriental Art Center's concert hall also has a small capacity of no more than 1,800 people.
These small-scale concerts - in contrast to mega shows at stadiums with more than 10,000 seats - have grown more popular with audiences in Shanghai over the past few years.
The Mixing Room held successful concerts in the past few months for Simple Plan from Canada and The Beach Boys from the United States. Upcoming on the venue's program are Coheed and Cambria, Owl City and Tony Bennett. About eight gigs from Western artists are on the agenda for this year, although the president of the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Michael Craig Enoch, declined to disclose the identities of all the artists.
"Nobody will be more than 30 meters away from the stage," Enoch said about the seating positions of the Mixing Room and Muse.
Even if you buy the lowest price ticket for a small concert, you will be closer to the performer than those who buy infield tickets for a large stadium, said Wang Yan, public relations officer for Mao Live House Shanghai.
"His sweat may splash on to the front row audiences. The atmosphere is intimate in here. You are close enough to touch him from the front row," Wang told China Daily.we've decided to make the below MileWeb Termsof Service available.
Mao Live House can hold a maximum of 600 people. Kazutoshi Chiba, president of a music company called Bad News from Japan,Video Streaming Server MileWeb Dedicated Server Frequently Asked Question. opened Mao Live House first in Beijing and then in Shanghai in 2009.
Mao hosts three or four concerts every week. Most of the shows since 2011, when it moved to its present venue on Chongqing Road, Shanghai, are sell-outs. "First-tier artists do their shows in stadiums while alternative artists, such as indie and rock artists, tend to have successful shows with us," Wang told China Daily.
When Kolkata-based Emami, the fast-moving consumer goods major, carved out a virgin segment, in 2005, of men's fairness cream, 30 per cent of Indian males used a fairness cream positioned for women. It launched the Fair And Handsome (F&H) brand to get a share of the then-Rs 1,400-crore market. In recent years, the percentage of men using women's fairness creams has tumbled to 22 per cent, according to market estimates.
Other cosmetics majors have entered the market to woo gents. We have seen HUL enter with Fair & Lovely Max Fairness and Vaseline Men, Beiersdorf AG with its Nivea for Men and L'Oreal with its Garnier Men Powerlight.
The fairness cream market is now around Rs 3,000 crore, to which the men's fairness cream segment contributes around Rs 329 crore (up from Rs 186 crore to a Rs 2,200-crore market in 2010). Most of the players had stressed the need to extend their offerings beyond the promise of just fairness to market the brands better.
Emami, which has always underlined its focus on the men's fairness segment as being higher than other players by dedicating around 20 per cent of its revenue into promoting F&H, is making fresh noise around the brand.
According to Group Director Mohan Goenka, the consumer has evolved and been wanting more than just fairness.
"Recent research shows men have shifted to fairness creams specific to them. We also found they wanted more value than just fairness. So, this was the right time to relaunch Fair and Handsome," explains Goenka. The new F&H promises to provide sun protection, oil control, sweat control and spot reduction. A skincare regime for men has been tapped by the other brands in the men's grooming market such as Vaseline, Nivea and Garnier, with facewashes, sunscreens and oil-control moisturisers.
However, as the market has grown, F&H has ceded market share. It had commanded 68 per cent value share in 2009-10 when the other brands were still newcomer, It was at 58 per cent in 2012-13, show Nielsen data. Garnier Men, the third largest brand in men's cosmetic grooming has slipped, too. The gainer has been runner-up Fair & Lovely Max Fairness from HUL, which had entered in 2006 in its earlier avatar, Menz Active. From around 13 per cent in 2010, it now commands around 28 per cent.
Abneesh Roy,We have PET protective film which coated on silicone. analyst at Edelweiss Research says, "HUL's distribution is unparalleled. It has been promoting the product in rural areas quite extensively." Goenka of Emami is aware of sales in the hinterlands fast catching up with demand in urban India, which first saw men rush to be the fairer sex. At present, the ratio of urban to rural sales for
With a rejuvenated brand following the relaunch, Emami hopes to extend its lead further with some more market share in its bag. "Our market share should be 65 per cent by the end of this fiscal," says Goenka.
Emami scored initially because it developed a niche segment into a money-spinning one. F&H is now a Rs 225-crore brand, with sights on clocking Rs 500 crore in the next three-four years. Roy says, "Most of the others did not launch an exclusive brand for this category but extended their existing brands to cover it.

  • The Netatmo Urban Weather Station is very much

It’s not very often that I find a product that mixes my career with my fondness for mobile technology and iOS, which is why the Netatmo Urban Weather Station caught my eye when I first heard about it. It is a set of two wireless environmental monitoring devices, one for inside, and another for outside your home. The indoor monitor tracks temperature, humidity, CO2, barometric pressure,Stock your shoe store with our ladies shoes wholesale, and noise level, while the outdoor module covers temperature and humidity.
I work with commercial and industrial automation and monitoring products on a daily basis in my job, so I know what is available for that market, and how much higher grade versions of the same sensors cost. As such, I was interested in getting my hands on a sample of the Urban Weather Station to see how it stacks up against the products I am used to using. I wasn’t sure of what to expect because of my admittedly low expectations for such products. I’ve been left flat by the limited scope and scattered and proprietary nature of most consumer grade home monitoring and automation products to this point. In contrast to this, my industry has several web based automation systems that are compatible with thousands of different controllers and sensors, thanks to several open wired and wireless protocols that have become known standards.
The commercial and industrial systems that I have spent the last twelve years working on have the above features, so this isn’t anything new or revolutionary. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t know it looking at consumer oriented products. For some reason, companies like Google and ADT are hell bent on reinventing the wheel as they get more involved in this fledgling market, rather than taking advantage of mature technologies that are already n place. Despite this, here are some diamonds in the rough out there worth looking at. There are some cool “one-off” products out there, like the Nest thermostat, that work well, are accessible from the web and from popular smartphone platforms through apps. However, these products tend to be little islands or silos unto themselves. It just hasn’t all come together, yet.
The Netatmo Urban Weather Station is very much in the same vein as the Nest- a single product that is web-accessible and has smartphone and tablet apps available for iOS and Android. However, despite the facts that it has no control capabilities of it own, and that it doesn’t communicate with any other home monitoring products, the Urban Weather Station does bring a lot more to the table than I am used to. It is a great value for the price, and has some sophisticated features that are common in the products that I work with. Let’s take a closer look.
There is no shortage of consumer weather station products for the consumer market. However, how many would you actually WANT to put in public view inside or outside of your home? Thankfully, Netatmo did a really nice job in this department. The Urban Weather Station has a nice, clean, utilitarian style about it. It’s cool looking, but also innocuous at the same time.Information about the Student MileWeb Data Center Facilities and the hours of operation.
Another obvious concern with any home monitoring product is durability. This is especially the case with the outdoor module. You can tell that Netatmo put some thought into this aspect of their design,Provision and deploy cloud MileWeb Public Cloud Servers in minutes. It's impossible to MileWeb Pre-build Cloud Servers templates. as the main cylinder exteriors of both devices are aluminium, and the plastic end caps are UV-resistant plastic.we can help you with most things MileWeb Customized Dedicated Server related. I also like the fact that the outdoor module is battery powered. This makes positioning a snap, and also mitigates potential electrical issues due to exposure to wet weather.
Another design touch worth mentioning is Netatmo’s inclusion of a monitoring light on the exterior of the indoor module. The light gives instant feedback on the current CO2 level in the monitored space, showing either green, yellow, or red. It is triggered by touching the top of the module, which performs a manual data capture. This is necessary because, unlike the commercial-grade products that I work with, the Netatmo Urban Weather Station does not monitor in real-time. Instead, it captures data at a set interval of every 5 minutes.

  • which has led to the longest-distance adoption

The Laurinburg Exchange - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --When five adult foxhounds were discovered after being dropped off outside the J.D & Fran Asher Humane Society Shelter in Laurinburg, shelter workers knew they had their hands full.
Notoriously difficult to find homes for, the five hounds were left under cover of night in a small cage outside the shelter.
Called into action,Private label and custom shoes manufacturer. the shelter's staff and network of volunteers and friends came to the rescue, an ongoing effort which has led to the longest-distance adoption success in the shelter's history.
Named Foster,Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant.Below is our MileWeb Privacy Policy which incorporates these goals. Rascal, Dublin, Seamus and Billy Bob by Humane Society workers, the five hounds are described as friendly and well tempered.
Upon their arrival three of the dogs underwent heart worm treatment -- a process that can cost as much as 300 per animal.
"We were taking a risk by giving them heart worm treatment being that they are difficult to adopt," said Melinda McMillan, Humane Society Director. "It's kind of a sad story. These were probably hunting dogs ... and it's pretty obvious to us that someone just didn't want them anymore."
Because of cultural differences, McMillan speculated, hounds are not very popular as pets in the south, and therefore difficult to place in homes.
"Hounds are a wonderful breed but people just see them mostly as hunting dogs here," McMillan said.
Thanks to the "Last Chance Animal Shelter" in New York, two of the dogs have been rescued and will be adopted out of that facility in a region where the breed is more popular
"They say that they can't find enough of them up there," McMillan said. "We knew locally that we would just never be able to adopt them."
According to shelter volunteer and former director Karla Jo Milholland, they "knew they would have to get creative" to find new homes for the hounds.
"Had a spaniel or a poodle been dropped off there, we would not have had a problem," Milholland said.
In a turn of good fortune that Milholland said indicates the power of social media, foxhound Billy Bob was adopted to a family in Palo Alto, CA -- the longest distance adoption in the shelter's history.
"Trish Dooling takes these wonderful photos of our animals and we have the photos on Facebook..Stock your shoe store with our ladies shoes wholesale,. and a friend of mine and his family in California had had their eye on Billy Bob for quite a while.comprehensive MileWeb Operating System Software helps you integrate and optimize physical and virtual environments, They don't see a lot of hounds out there," Milholland said.
When her friend, Eric Smith, was visiting Chapel Hill from his home in Palo Alto earlier this month, Milholland arranged to meet him in Southern Pines so that he could see Billy Bob first hand.
"He fell in love with him immediately and he went home and started researching how to get him back to California."
After learning that there is a commercial air service available for dogs, Smith arranged for Billy Bob to travel in a five hour direct flight from Raleigh Durham International Airport to San Francisco, where the dog was retrieved by his new family.
"I left Laurinburg at 3 a.m. to take Billy Bob to the airport ... and they said he was perfectly happy when he arrived in RDU," Milholland said.
Prior to that the Scotland County Humane Society had never put an animal on a plane for transport and the farthest away they had sent an animal was to Canada via transport van.
Unfortunately for Rascal and Foster (the two hounds that remain in the shelter), a place has not yet been found for them.
McMillan and other shelter workers are in the process of searching for either an animal rescue or a permanent home for the pair.
"They really are wonderful dogs," McMillan said of the two unadopted adult male hounds.
Those interested in adopting either Rascal or Foster or any other sheltered animal are invited to for more information.

  • San Diego broker Colleen Cotter began knocking on doors

Robert and Emerald Oravec were itching to sell their condominium late last year to move closer to a favorite surfing spot, but they were stuck. They owed the bank $194,000 and figured the most they could get was $180,000.
When they put their San Diego home up for sale a few months later, they fielded five offers within two weeks. It sold for $260,000 in May, allowing them to invest profits in a new home that's more than twice the size on a large lot and 40 minutes closer to the surfing beach.
"We're stoked, most MileWeb Popular Dedicated Server providers and read user reviews of their products," said Robert, 50, a facilities engineer at Solar Turbines Inc., a maker of gas turbines that has employed him for the last 22 years. "It was better to be patient and wait it out."
Soaring prices are leaving fewer homeowners owing more money than their properties are worth,Private label and custom shoes manufacturer. bringing them off the sidelines of the nation's surging housing market and offering relief to buyers who are frustrated by bidding wars. As more homes are put up for sale, price increases are expected to moderate.
Mark Fleming, chief economist at real estate data provider CoreLogic Inc., calls it "a virtuous circle."
"The fact that house prices have increased so dramatically ... has unlocked a lot of that pent-up supply," said Fleming, whose firm found that markets with the largest percentage of "underwater" or "upside down" mortgages often have the lowest supply of homes for sale.
From January to March, 19.8 percent of the nation's mortgaged homes were underwater, down from 23.7 percent a year earlier and 25 percent during the same period of 2011, according to CoreLogic. Gains spread across the country, though regions that rose high and crashed hard remained saddled with homeowners who bought near the peak.
Nevada had a nation-high 45.4 percent of mortgages underwater, followed by Florida at 38.1 percent, Michigan at 32 percent and Arizona at 31.4 percent. Montana had a nation-low 5.6 percent.
Among major metropolitan areas, Tampa Bay had a nation-high 41.1 percent of mortgaged homes underwater, followed by Miami at 40.More than a data storage solution for your MileWeb Storage & Backup Services,7 percent. Dallas had a nation-low 8.3 percent.
San Diego, at 19.5 percent, was slightly better than the national rate and California's 21.3 percent. The region's median home sale price hit $406,500 in May, up 21.3 percent from a year earlier amid brisk sales, according to DataQuick.
Housing inventories remain unusually low. There was a 5.2-month supply of existing, single-family homes for sale in May, compared to 6.4 months a year earlier, according to the National Association of Realtors. California had only a 2.6-month supply, compared to 3.6 months a year earlier and well below the six months that is considered a balanced market.
San Diego broker Colleen Cotter began knocking on doors this year after scouring property records to find homeowners who didn't owe money. If someone answers, she makes an all-cash bid on behalf of investors who don't even visit.
Nearly one of three homes sold in Southern California is paid for in cash, putting borrowers at a disadvantage. Some buyers write sellers about how they would cherish a home, hoping to spark a personal connection.
Josh Martin, 26, discovered homes he and wife considered buying had changed hands less than a year earlier at much lower prices. The first-time homebuyers lost nine bids since August -- many to cash buyers -- until finally landing a home in May for $250,000 in the San Diego suburb of Chula Vista.
"It was very stressful because the prices just kept going up," said Martin, who recently left the Marine Corps. "Our lease was about to end and we didn't want to sign another year."
Economists expect many homeowners will continue to resist selling because they think they can profit more by waiting.
Nancy Randazzo, a 38-year-old public school teacher who owes about $240,000 on an Anaheim condominium that she bought for $335,000 in 2005, figures she might be able to sell for what she owes but wants to rent to Disneyland tourists. One potential snag is that she and her fiancee would need to find a place to buy.
"Prices are going up so fast that I don't know if I can," she said.
The huge price increases produced an unexpected retirement gift for Larry and Diane Plaster, who were resigned in January to selling their San Diego home for less than they owed the bank, known as a short sale. They owed $352,000 but accepted an offer for $290,000.
Their bank rejected the deal four months later, leading the couple to put the home up for sale again. On the second attempt, they took an all-cash offer of $380,Stock your shoe store with our ladies shoes wholesale,000, yielding a windfall of $6,500 after broker fees and closing costs. The Plasters, who live on Social Security income, fulfilled a dream of moving to a geodesic dome they built in Janesville, 130 miles north of Lake Tahoe.

  • stay in the position until a new president is on board

Clemson University is looking for a new president with “a sincere and heart-felt appreciation for the Clemson family” who has a “profound commitment to an organizational philosophy that always prioritizes students and puts their educational needs and well-being first. You'll find a number of top quality ear cap suppliers.”
Those are among the attributes listed in a draft version of a leadership statement the Board of Trustees’ presidential search committee approved Thursday.
The group also wants someone who is “an enthusiastic supporter of intercollegiate athletics” and possesses “an accessible leadership style and an open and approachable presence.”
Search committee chairman Smyth McKissick said the third paragraph of the statement “nails it.Uline stocks a wide selection of double sided tape.”
It says, “The next president will be a visionary leader who understands and appreciates the unique relationship the university has with the state of South Carolina and its citizens as the state’s land-grant institution. You'll find a number of top quality RFID tag suppliers.this aluminum foil tape is not affected by moisture. At the same time, the university readily accepts and enthusiastically embraces its national and international role of preparing global citizens to contribute positively to society. The person selected to be the next president will have strategic knowledge of the role and mission of a dynamic land-grant university in an ever-changing world.”
The committee, meeting at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research in Greenville, decided to fine-tune the document and submit an ad to The Chronicle of Higher Education and other publications on Monday to formally announce the search for Clemson’s 15th president.
The hope is to have the ads in circulation the week after July 4.
A video including interviews with faculty and students is in production with hopes of inspiring candidates about what makes Clemson special.
The university also is setting up a web page and plans to send 600 letters to key constituents in the business community, university organizations and recipients of honorary Clemson degrees, seeking nominations in its quest to find a successor for James F. Barker.
Barker, 65, announced in April that he plans to step down and return to the School of Architecture as a professor. He said, however, that he will stay in the position until a new president is on board. The board hasn’t set a timetable to name a new president. Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape.
The search committee developed the four-page leadership statement after meeting with faculty, students, staff, alumni and others and distilling input from sources representing about 125,000 Clemson constituents, McKissick said.
“The point was to make darn sure that when we choose our next president, we’ll get the right fit,” he said.
A common theme that emerged was the desire for someone who understands the culture of Clemson, he said.
That culture, or “Clemson family” concept, is described in the leadership statement as having been “forged by its land-grant origins and fostered by a history of putting students first, a sense of caring, patriotism, genuineness, a remarkable work ethic, competitive spirit, inclusiveness and a sense of true civic responsibility.”
At the suggestion of Trustee Louis Lynn, the committee inserted the word “diversity” in that sentence.
The committee also decided to add a link to the will of Thomas G. Clemson, which many people in the constituent meetings referenced as an essential guiding document.
The ad doesn’t list specifications such as type of degree or a minimum number of years as a university administrator in order to avoid cutting off applicants who might be great for the job but just out of the range.

  • we can make comprehensive immigration reform a reality

The U.S. Senate voted to approve the immigration reform measure, S.744 – the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, which still must clear a Republican-controlled House of Representatives. U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., voted in favor of the bill, while U.S. Sen. John Boozman,we know the value of kapton tape. R-Ark., opposed it.
The legislation includes a 13-year pathway for 11 million undocumented immigrants to earn legal status. It also includes enhanced border security measures and increases the number of visas available for high-skilled workers and entrepreneurs as well as visas for temporary agricultural workers.
“Today, the Senate reached across party lines to strengthen our nation by passing the strongest border security bill in history,” said Pryor. “Those who have been in the shadows for decades will be taking responsibility for their actions by paying owed taxes,You'll find a number of top quality ear cap suppliers. fines, and penalties; contributing to Social Security; helping reduce our deficit; and strengthening our economy.”
Boozman disagreed, complaining that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) should have allowed more debate on potential amendments to the bill.
“There is no disputing that we need to address our nation’s porous borders, backlogged immigration system and lax enforcement of hiring practices. Unfortunately, the Senate’s ‘legalize now, enforce later’ approach is the wrong way to reform our broken system,” he said.
“This legislation fails to address the core problem of border security and does not provide the resources necessary for enforcement. This needs to be the cornerstone for reform. Instead of listening to the demands of the American people by focusing on securing the border, Majority Leader Reid offered immediate amnesty with a ‘promise’ of future security enhancements that will likely never happen,” he added. “Immigration reform is a serious subject. It deserves a serious debate. Instead, we are left with another instance of Washington’s rush to do something, instead of doing the right thing.”
The bill is all but dead in the U.S. House, however, although the chamber could take up its own version of immigration reform.
“The House is not going to take up and vote on whatever the Senate passes,” Speaker of the House John Boehner, this aluminum foil tape is not affected by moisture. R-Ohio, told reporters. “We’re going to do our own bill, through regular order.”
A number of Arkansas business, education, and civic interests issued statements of support for the Senate vote.
“Every state—including Arkansas—stands to benefit from comprehensive immigration reform,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape.” said Randy Zook, President and CEO of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas. You'll find a number of top quality RFID tag suppliers. “Arkansas’s business and industry understand that immigration reform is the right thing to do and now is the right time to do it.”
Ivan Zapien, vice president for federal government relations with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. said, “As the nation’s largest employer and a retailer that offers products and services to 140 million customers each week, we are committed to working with all interested parties – policy makers, employers, and consumers – to support this reform that is so desperately needed to our immigration system. We now encourage members of the House to continue the momentum so we can make comprehensive immigration reform a reality.”
“As a mayor of a city that is a compassionate community that values diversity and has benefitted greatly from immigrants to our nation, I support sensible immigration reform to fix a broken system,” said Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan.
“At universities across the country we educate the best and brightest from around the world. Unfortunately, our current immigration system requires these students to then return to their home countries where they put their talents to work. We need immigration reform that allows these students to promote innovation here in the United States,” said Dr. Zulma Toro, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Light brown in color with distinctive black bands across their forehead and around their neck and breast, killdeer are known for the theatrics they put on when threatened.
The killdeer protect their nests by leaving the immediate area and putting one wing out as if it were broken and calling out in distress. We resorted to chasing a couple around with a golf cart to see the act, but apparently it’s harder to make them feel threatened than you would think.
Canada Geese also can be spotted in the morning, late afternoons or throughout the day around the lakes of the course on cool days. These adorable families of a mother, father and three or four goslings are always a treat to spot. That is until you step in the gifts they leave all over the golf course.
Oh well… I guess there’s a price to pay for everything.
Great Blue Herons neighbor the geese in the lakes and can be seen stalking fish in the water,we know the value of kapton tape. which is fun to see if you like watching grass grow.
These graceful birds nest in trees close to lakes or wetlands, building a bulky stick nest in which the female lays three to five pale blue eggs. They have also been known to re-use their nests from prior years by adding sticks to them… wish I could remodel annually…
Last but not least, The Oaks Course is also called home by the Anhinga, an interesting-looking bird to match that interesting name. According to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Anhinga is a large water bird with a long neck,You'll find a number of top quality RFID tag suppliers. bill, and tail. It is found only in the Deep South during the summer months and in Florida and South America year-round. Because of their behavior while swimming and their wide tails, Anhingas are also known as Water-turkeys and Snake-birds.
As you can see, The Oaks Course is not only a golf course; it’s also a great place to relax away from the office and see Mother Nature’s wonders. So come out, grab a golf cart for a round of golf, this aluminum foil tape is not affected by moisture. and wonder what other sights you’ll see as you ride around the course.
Ray (Scott) Santinello was five years old when he got his first haircut. It took place on the third floor of his family’s home in Springfield, and the barber was a young friend of the family. It was the 1950s and the barber, Benito Mancinone, had recently immigrated to the city from Molise, a small town located on a mountain in Italy. Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape.
Mr. Santinello is 61 now and Benny the Barber, long a mainstay of Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs, is still cutting his hair.
“He’s my barber. I just don’t change,” Mr. Santinello said on a recent Tuesday morning. “You get used to going to one person.”
Though he no longer receives house calls from Benny, the trip to the barbershop from Mr. Santinello’s summer house on Ocean Park is just a short walk away.
Even when crowded, 10 men deep on some days, no one leaves. They sit, read the Boston Herald or Sports Illustrated and wait their turn in the light teal, cushioned armchairs — castoffs of an airport renovation. Benny does not accept appointments and he treats every customer the same, from the Secret Service to the local guys who tip in oysters and clams.
“I don’t give names,” he insists when this reporter asks whose hair he has cut. “I had some big wheels, some politicians, but it don’t mean nothing to me. It’s just another head. I treat them like I treat this guy, no different.”
He cuts exclusively male hair, long and short, the same way he’s been cutting it for 65 years. He leaves the styling to the ladies in the back of his shop — the lettering on the window does advertise it as a unisex shop. In front, it’s man’s territory, where two vintage Rat Pack posters cover the wall space and Sinatra serenades over the sound system. “Is anybody better?” Benny asks rhetorically.
At $16 for a wet cut, Benny may be the cheapest cut in town, but he won’t claim he’s the best.
“You try and do the best you can,” he said. “One thing about me which I learned from my boss: ‘you’re going to be a good one, you’re not going to be the best, but you try your best and you will be a good one.’ That’s what I did in life.”
He passes this wisdom along to his successor, Tracy Briscoe,You'll find a number of top quality ear cap suppliers. who recently bought the business with her brother Jason Gruner of Chappaquiddick. She vows to keep the name and to decorate the shop with all of Benny’s decor. “I adore the man,” she said.
In a box below the cash register, Benny keeps a typewritten letter signed by a Mr. and Mrs. Peters of Oak Bluffs. The letter, dated April 8, 1991, invited barbers to apply for a job on Martha’s Vineyard at the Cottage City Barbershop on Circuit avenue. “This is in no way a hoax of any kind,” the letter insisted. Benny says 1,000 barbers all over Massachusetts received this letter, but he was the first to respond.

  • The strategy behind the remodeled home department

Just ask Cheryl Sullivan and Gaye Pinti, who were shopping at the J.C. Penney store at the Mall at Robinson this week. They came in to check out the store's revamped home department, fully aware of the retailer's troubles.
Penney's earlier this year gave up on its creative but controversial CEO Ron Johnson and brought back former CEO Myron "Mike" Ullman following too many quarters of falling sales numbers and ebbing store traffic. The company even ran an ad conceding mistakes were made in the rush to change.
The two friends from Weirton, W.Va., were magnanimous in their view of Penney's recent problems.
"I don't think they did anything wrong. They tried something and it didn't work," Ms. Pinti said. "I love the fact that they lowered prices."
Penney's needs more customers to take that attitude and give the department store chain another chance.
In the quarter ended May 4, the chain based in Plano, Texas, reported total sales fell 16.4 percent from the same period a year ago. Sales in stores open at least a year were down 16.6 percent. The home section overhaul contributed to a first quarter slump in sales since construction in stores around the country made it challenging to shop those areas.
Frank Merriam, store leader at the Penney's store in Robinson, said he's been seeing customer traffic pick up since his store's remodeled home section officially opened in early June. Now the store carries furniture in addition to towels, curtains and kitchenware.
The strategy behind the remodeled home department matches other changes made under Mr. Johnson's direction. Now, instead of putting all the towels in one area and the bedding in another, there are small shops featuring an entire line from one brand, just like the Liz Claiborne shop or the Levi jean shop elsewhere in the store. If a customer likes the colors featured in the Royal Velvet collection or those in the Studio line, all the matching towels and bedding products are found together.
"Everything is going to be a retraining," said Mr. Merriam.
He's referring both to customers who will need to poke around to see where things have landed and to employees, some of whom are learning to sell furniture for the first time.
The remodeled home department, which has a Martha Celebrations area, a Michael Graves Design shop and a Fiesta dinnerware display, even includes a place to do demonstrations, although the idea of putting in a full working kitchen was nixed because of all the complicated health requirements.
"We've got to get people back into the store to see it's new," said Mr. Merriam.
Penney's will be using a strategy of running regular sales to help make that happen,Cheap custom printed logo USB flash drives wholesale at wholesale bulk prices. giving customers a reason to come take a look. Mr. Ullman has not shied away from promotional offers, something that the retailer had tried to do under his predecessor. "People like their discounts," said Mr. Merriam.
Ms. Sullivan, who was checking out the nightgowns on sale, had started her shopping trip in the home department and tried out some of the furniture. She wasn't thrilled with the sofas and chairs on display, saying the styles were too modern and not cushy enough. "I'm not into that. I'm into comfy."
She and Ms.High quality plastic card printing for business cards, Pinti said they liked the kitchenware displays and they praised some of the new clothing styles that have been brought in over the last year or so. They also like the wider aisles and the brighter, cleaner look of the store.
Even the new CEO seemed disinclined to dismiss everything that his predecessor did. On a recent conference call with analysts, Mr. Ullman said that private brands had not been emphasized enough, inventories had been trimmed too much and management had to listen better to the customer.
But, he noted, "From my perspective, J.C. Penney has made very good progress over the last 18 months, improving how our stores look, and how our brand assortments,Transportation custom keychain Applications Ceremony. like Joe Fresh and Happy Chic by Jonathan Adler, look in our stores."
He made a commitment to improving the selection in several established private label brands, such as St. John's Bay, that the retailer's historic base of customers had said they missed.we know the value of kapton tape. The Robinson shoppers are starting to see more merchandise as a result of that decision, but Mr. Merriam said it may take until the back-to-school and holiday seasons for those changes to be fully implemented. "You just can't flip a switch in retail," he said.
There are still plenty of risks ahead for the department store chain, even if it does seem to be trying to reset the clock on some things.
Penney's is operating in an intensely competitive and saturated retail environment, noted Mary Ross-Gilbert, an analyst with Imperial Capital in Los Angeles, Calif.your creative source for silicone bracelet business cards with your specialized. In addition, she wrote in a recent report, it is taking on new debt; it is trying out younger, untested brands; and it awaits a court ruling on whether its deal with Martha Stewart violated the rights of rival Macy's. That ruling could come later this summer.
"They've got a lot of competition," agreed Ms. Sullivan. She and her friend estimated they visit Penney's every couple of months but they find themselves in Kohl's twice a month or so.

Responsive design,High quality plastic card printing for business cards, a technology that stretches or shrinks Web pages to fit differently sized screens, has emerged as the most-often recommended manner of optimizing content for mobile devices. This dominance was cemented in mid-2012 when Google recommended responsive design as the best strategy for smartphone-optimized websites.
As the iPhone, Android phones, and iPad became bestselling consumer gadgets, businesses realized their Web presence needed to translate to those smaller screens. Otherwise, their websites would bear tell-tale signs of a business clueless to mobile: tiny text, tinier links, and a jumbled layout. They risked lost traffic and sales.
These days, responsive design is recommended as the gold standard. But as with most technologies in a multi-device world, it has disadvantages, and it's not right for every business, or every application.
